Commodity Tokens

Discover how Coimex’s Commodity Token Marketplace turns agricultural products into blockchain-backed assets with real value, stability, and transparency.

The Commodity Token Marketplace transforms agricultural products into blockchain-based tokens, solving key challenges in global trade. For importers and exporters, it helps protect against seasonal price volatility in food commodities. At the same time, for crypto investors, it provides simple, low-barrier access to stable, real-world assets similar to gold. Powered by Coimex’s 25+ years of trade expertise, each token is backed by licensed warehouse storage, priced according to official international market rates, and redeemable for the underlying physical commodity.

Our cofounder Onur Kutlu Gago explain how it works

What is the Commodity Token Marketplace?

The Commodity Token Marketplace enables the secure tokenization and trading of real agricultural products on the blockchain. Coimex purchases crops directly from farmers at harvest time, stores them in licensed warehouses, and issues tokens where 1 token = 1 kg of product. Importers and exporters can hedge against seasonal price fluctuations, while crypto investors gain transparent access to low-risk, commodity-backed assets. Each token is redeemable for the underlying physical good, ensuring trust, stability, and real-world utility.

How Does It Work?

  1. Harvest-Time Purchase: Coimex uses its own capital to buy products directly from farmers during harvest season, when prices are typically at their lowest.

  2. Licensed Warehouse Storage: Products are stored in government-approved, regularly audited, licensed warehouses. These facilities ensure quality control, insurance, and provide official reports for transparency.

  3. Tokenization: Each 1 kg of product is issued as 1 Commodity Token on the blockchain. Example: 1 APRI = 1 kg of dried apricots.

  4. Trading

    • Tokens can be bought or sold using USDT or EXIM.

    • Transactions made with EXIM benefit from lower commission fees.

    • The Treasury determines and announces which currency pairs are active in specific periods.

  5. Physical Redemption Option: Investors can either sell their tokens back or redeem them for the actual physical commodity stored in licensed warehouses.

  6. Annual Stock Renewal Guarantee: Coimex commits to replacing all stored commodities with the new harvest each year, ensuring tokens remain backed by fresh, verifiable goods. In case of supply shortages or unforeseen risks (such as harvest failure or warehouse issues), Coimex will source from alternative suppliers or compensate through its buyback guarantee, protecting token holders’ rights.

Trust Factors

  • 25+ Years of Experience: Coimex’s founding partners have over 25 years of expertise in commodity import and export. What was done for decades in Web2 is now delivered through Web3 technology in a more transparent and accessible way.

  • Buyback Guarantee: Coimex provides a buyback guarantee to token holders. Investors can sell their tokens back to the company at any time.

  • Audit & Transparency: Warehouse reports, certificates, and visuals are shared with the community for full transparency.

Commissions

  • Trading Commissions: On average, 3% fee applies on both buying and selling.

  • Currency Flexibility: Transactions can be carried out with either USDT or EXIM Token.

  • EXIM Incentive: Lower commissions are applied when trading with EXIM to encourage usage.

Pricing Mechanism

  • Commodity Token prices are not determined by Coimex or by investor speculation.

  • Instead, official commodity market prices in international trade (licensed warehouse EXW prices) are taken as the basis.

  • Coimex regularly collects these prices from the market, inputs them into the system, and announces them to the community.

  • As a result, Commodity Tokens behave like commodity-backed stablecoins.
